Evaluating the in-Hospital Mortality Frequency during 30 Days among Patients with Hypoalbunemia admitted in a Tertiary Care Hospital of Karachi

Background: Hypoalbuminemia ‎ is a strong predictor for assessing acute and chronic illness conditions. The condition of hypoalbuminemia ‎is associated with the low synthesis albumin resulting from cachexia wasting. Aim: To find out frequency 30 Day in-hospital mortality among patients admitted at tertiary care hospital Karachi. Study design: Cross-sectional study. Place duration study: Data was collected Department Medicine Department, Government Tertiary Care Hospital Karachi during period six months Feb 2022 to August 2022. Methodology: One hundred seven who met investigative criteria were included. A short history taken demographic details recorded after taking informed written consent. 5 ml blood peripheral vein in specific tube measure serum level admission. Patients < 3.5 mg/dl labelled hypoalbuminemia. followed throughout admission, those expiring within days admission as having mortality. Results: measurements mean age, height, albumin, ‎and weight 49.87±12.41 years, 159.00±7.28 cm,‎1.89±0.33 mg/dl‎, 78.7±9.87 kg, respectively. Sixty-five (60.7%) male, 42 (39.3%) female. In this study, we found that death rate 14%. significant association between gender, age group, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, anemia, smoking status, family income status.
